Satisfying Turkey Meat Sauce (Bolognese Style)
Ingredients
2 pounds ground turkey (minced turkey)- 2 medium sweet onions - chopped
2 medium carrots - shredded
5 cloves garlic
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried parsley
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
⅔ cups white wine - or both mixed
1 pinch salt
1 pinch ground black pepper
28 ounces Marinara sauce (tomatoes, garlic, herbs, and onions – pasta sauce in southern hemisphere for Italian seafood dish) - chopped or pureed tomatoes
1 tablespoon avocado oil
Instructions
- Heat oil in a large pot. Add onions and carrots and sauté for about 10 minutes or until they start to get soft and fragrant. For the last minute, add garlic and mix.
- Add ground turkey; using a wooden spatula, break it down into tiny pieces and incorporate well with onions, carrots and garlic. Cook until all turkey turns grey throughout the pot.
- Add all your spices, fresh herbs, wine, Worcestershire. Mix well. Reduce heat, cover and simmer for 20 to 30 minutes. Try not to remove the lid to allow all the flavours to stay in the pot.
