Ingredients
 
 

Minced Beef Filling

  • Raw Meat Mince500 g ground beef (minced beef) - preferably grass-fed for better flavor
  • Fine Breadcrumbs, Also Breading Or Crispies In Wooden Bowl1 cup breadcrumbs - fresh, use whole grain for extra texture
  • Bottle Of Sauce1 tablespoon BBQ sauce (barbecue sauce) - preferably a smoky variety

Seasonings

  • Dried Garlic1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Onion Powder1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Sweet Pepper Red Paprika Powder In Wooden Bowl Over White1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • Coarse Sea Salt Top View1 pinch sea salt - to taste

Pastry

  •  
    2 sheets puff pastry - thawed
  • Chicken Egg1 large egg - beaten, for egg wash

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 220°C (428°F). Prepare a baking tray with parchment paper.
  • In a large mixing bowl, combine the minced beef, breadcrumbs, barbecue sauce, and seasonings. Mix thoroughly until all ingredients are well combined.
  • Lay out the puff pastry sheets on a clean surface. Cut each sheet in half lengthwise to form long rectangles.
  • Divide the beef mixture into four equal parts. Shape each portion into a log and place along the center of each pastry strip.
  • Brush a little water along one edge of the pastry. Roll the pastry over the beef to enclose it, sealing the edges. Ensure the seam is on the bottom.
  • Cut each roll into desired lengths, typically about 5cm (2 inches), and place on the prepared tray.
  • Brush the tops with the beaten egg for a glossy finish.
  • Bake in the oven for 20-25 minutes or until the pastry is golden brown and puffed.
  • Remove from the oven and allow them to cool slightly on a wire rack before serving.

Notes

To enhance the BBQ flavor, consider adding a teaspoon of liquid smoke to the beef mixture. If you desire a kick, a dash of chili flakes will do nicely.
